Self Check-in

I want you to ask…how are you, really?

I want you to ask…how are you, really?

I want to invite you to pause for a moment and do a check-in with yourself.

Not an automatic “How am I?” “I’m fine” response.

I mean an honest, truthful check-in.

How are you mentally?
How are you emotionally?
How are you spiritually?
How are you physically?

I often describe life as a table with four legs. Each leg represents one of these areas of your well-being. When one leg is struggling, the table becomes uneven. When several legs are neglected, the table starts sitting lower than it should.

Eventually, if too much goes unattended, the table is not able to hold what you need it to.

As busy adults, it is very easy to keep moving without stopping long enough to notice where we may be depleted. That is why these check-ins matter so much. They allow us to catch the imbalance before it becomes burnout or disconnection from that area of your life.

Maybe mentally you need a break from constant stimulation and information.
Maybe emotionally you need more connection or support.
Maybe spiritually you have drifted away from the practices that ground you.
Maybe physically your body is asking for movement, rest, hydration, or care.

Whatever area feels the most neglected right now, give that part of yourself a little attention this weekend.

Take the walk.
Call the friend.
Go to the yoga class.
Sit quietly.
Pray.
Journal.
Get outside.
Move your body.
Do something that helps strengthen the leg that has been operating with the least support.

Balance does not happen accidentally. It requires awareness and maintenance along the way.

I encourage you to do this kind of self check-in once a month if you can. The sooner we notice the gaps, the easier they are to repair before the plates start sliding off the table… along with the beautiful flower vase.

And that’s…Good to Know!
